Retired from the US Navy, Matt has harbored dreams of sailing around the world since he was a wee lad growing up in New Zealand. And now he's on his way to France to participate in the next solo around the world Golden Globe Race.

In this "lost episode": While Daeron was on a temporary hiatus, Darren sat down with Matt to discuss his preparations for the grueling single-hander's marathon known as the Golden Globe Race. Matt talked about his time in the US Navy as a Flight Officer, Tactical Coordinator and Mission Commander on the P-3 Orion and the refit projects on Tipi Haere, his 1979 Cape George 36. Which, coincidentally, was the same kind of boat that Kirsten Neuschafer, the last winner of the GGR ('22), used! At this time Matt is in the South Pacific aboard Tipi Haere on his way to France.
